The Fisheries Co-Management Pre-Implementation Project was implemented in Kismayo City, Lower Juba, Jubaland State, from 01 September 2023 to 31 January 2024, for Secure Fisheries, a program of the One Earth Future Foundation. It aimed to lay the foundation for effective fisheries co-management by strengthening the institutional, governance, and leadership capacities of fisheries cooperatives and local stakeholders in Jubaland. The initiative focused on building shared understanding of co-management principles, improving cooperative governance structures, and promoting inclusive participation to support sustainable fisheries management and long-term community resilience. All activities were delivered through interactive and participatory methodologies, ensuring strong knowledge retention and practical application, and contributed to improved cooperative governance, enhanced accountability, and readiness for the implementation of fisheries co-management systems in Jubaland.
